I and mits were talking
I dont know how topic came up but we were talking about smoking
And particularly girls smoking
I am dead against smoking but somehow digesting a girl smoking is even more difficult
I dont know but I guess I have to some extent taken for granted that guys tend to smoke
But I still raise my eye brows when I see a girl smoke
All my gender equality funda just goes for a toss
In CEPT too many girls used to smoke
It took me a while to get used to the sight
Mits was telling who all amongst girls in her circle smoke
There was a list of 7-8 girls....all from theatre circle
I dont so much mind she telling me about the fact that they smoke coz it hardly matters to me
The thing that bothered me most was the tinge of admiration in her voice...a very slight touch almost unnoticeable
She was also telling a friend of her who was in rehab for de-addiction of charas and ganja
And she was saying people didnt have problem with him smoking charas ganja... its just he stopped working after a while and used to do only that....!!!!!
I told her every addiction eventually lands in that place
I felt so insecure that my own sister is into these kinda people
I almost visualised her cute daughter who is 2 years old right now smoking after some years
There was a strike of panic inside
I dont get it ever
Everyone knows addictions are bad....they harm body
Worse is they take control over your rationality after some time
Everyone has a choice when taking up first cigar, first beer, first drink.....when the rationality is still in tact and not wiped off with addiction....why is that people take up such things then?
I wouldn’t blame so much a smoker who is trying hard to quit smoking for long and failing miserably
Coz he has crossed that physiological level of addiction
Now demand for that toxic chemical has become a compulsion
But I would definitely blame a new comer to smokers gang for he still has choice
Much worse is these kinda things becoming a status quo and people tend to justify the 'fun' element of it
And then there are ofcourse the idols of youth....movie stars....flashing every now and then either in movies or on hoardings flaunting a glass of 'soda' or 'smirnoff'....or a cigar in lips
Unfortunately there are very few people who 'think' and act
Most of them just are happy following crowd
This is just way too disturbing
And the thing that freaks me out is that this kinda 'purist' approach which is dead against addictions is often ridiculed
Most of the boys in my gang of cousins smoke and drink and their parents dont have any idea about the smoking at least... drinking seems to have been accepted by mom dads too these days
Once it was a typical night out and all of them were having various forms of chicken at 11.30 in night along with drinks. This is usual thing when we go out for diner. The order is placed at 10.30. Starters come at 11 and main course at 11.30. I avoid dining at such late hours...and was already sleepy at 11.30
And my brothers were like "kasa whaycha tuza?" I just said "We'll see"
They are all 30 with beer bellies jutting out already...keep eating red meat all the time....do no exercise what so ever...and tell me "kasa whaycha tuza"!!!!
